Volvo FH5 FH30 Brasil Limited Edition

To celebrate, Volvo presents the “FH 30 Years Special Series” on its stand, exclusively for Brazil.
Brand new from Volvo at Fenatran 2024, the FH 30 Years Special Series is limited to 30 units in the 6×2 configuration with a 500 hp engine and 30 examples of the 6×4 version with a 540 hp engine, for a total of 60 vehicles. "It is a unique truck.
In addition to the unique look, the units of the FH 30 Years Special Series have all the new features of the recently launched 2025 model. The new camera rear-view mirrors are equipped with modern, sophisticated lenses for a wide, clear view that reaches a much larger area around the truck than with conventional mirrors. Artificial intelligence functions include the next-generation I-See system, which, in addition to road topography, now anticipates bends and roundabouts, offering greater predictability to the driver and saving fuel. New sign reading technology recognises road signs and warns the driver, increasing safety.

Volvo has introduced many innovations to the world of transport over the past 30 years:

11994 - On-board electronics - Just arrived in the country, still imported from Sweden, the model stood out from the rest on the roads. The electronic engine was considered a great enigma by mechanics. But the great efficiency of the system, with gains in fuel consumption and reduced maintenance, proved that electronics was a no-go. Another highlight was the modern cockpit, designed on the basis of ergonomic studies, with unparalleled comfort and safety for the time. ABS brakes were offered for the first time on trucks in Brazil.

1998 - Made in Brazil - Due to the model's great acceptance, Volvo began producing the FH in the country. The FH “Made in Brazil” brought new features to the interior of the cab, which became even more comfortable. The model is now equipped with the innovative Front Underun Protection System (FUPS), a device that saves lives by preventing small vehicles from getting under the truck in frontal collisions. Another innovation was the introduction of the Air Bag as an optional extra.

1999 - A new generation - this year saw a number of improvements to the cabin and on-board electronics. The new D12C engine had outputs of 380bhp and 420bhp. The dashboard featured an advanced on-board computer. Calculations such as consumption averages, instantaneous and per journey were easily accessed. What's more, a device called Trip Manager made it possible to connect to the hauliers' computers. This connectivity, previously unheard of, made it possible to download the data for analyses and driver training.

2003 - I-Shift - the next generation of the FH brought a new, longer and more efficient set of optics. The interior was completely remodelled, with a new dashboard, new seats and new beds. Power reached 460bhp, a record for the time. But the biggest mechanical evolution was the I-Shift electronic transmission, which dispensed with the clutch pedal and changed gears on its own, without interference from the driver. The new gearbox soon proved to be unrivalled in terms of fuel economy and driver comfort.

2006 - Total Performance - a new D13A engine boosted power to 520 hp. Also noteworthy was the Volvo Engine Brake (VEB), which with 500 hp helped control speed on slopes in complete safety, without adding weight to the vehicle as in models from other brands. A new generation of the I-Shift transmission for 60 tonnes enabled gains in productivity, economy and comfort.

2010 - Unrivalled safety - Safety has always been the focus of the Volvo FH. And the generation introduced in 2010 exceeded all the limits of the time. It was the first time that a truck offered electronic stability control (ESP), lane monitoring (LKS), intelligent cruise control with emergency braking (ACC2), electronic brakes (EBS), blind spot sensor (LCS) and breathalyser start inhibitor (Alcolock).

2012 - Euro 5 generation - in compliance with the new emissions legislation, in 2012 the FH gained new D13C Euro 5 engines. The vehicles are now equipped with the SCR system, which treats gases in the exhaust system using a special catalyser and the additive Arla 32. The change brought new power options, up to 540bhp. The Volvo FH now has the option of the Dynafleet connectivity system, with GPS localisation and GSM data transmission.

2015 - New Cab and I-See - with increased space (1 m³ larger) and a completely redesigned interior, the FH became even more driver-centred, with exceptional comfort and safety. Externally, the model has gained more modern and aerodynamic features. But the greatest evolution of this generation was the high level of on-board connectivity. All vehicles leave the factory ready to activate the service. Another innovation was I-See, a technology that uses connectivity to geolocate the vehicle and programme gear changes according to the road and topography.

2019 - Intelligent Acceleration - new algorithms developed by Volvo engineering are now able to identify the real need for torque and power according to topography and load, controlling fuel injection ultra-precisely to reduce consumption. Field tests have shown gains of up to 10 per cent in consumption, depending on the type of application, load and road.

2021 - Increasingly digital - a new set of optics and a new front grille have reinvigorated the model's design. Vehicles now have the option of new LED headlights with an anti-glare system that automatically adapts to vehicle traffic, increasing safety. The instrument panel is now fully digital, with various configurable screens for the driver's convenience. EBS5 electronic brakes and cruise control have further enhanced the Volvo FH's active safety. Introduction of Volvo Connect, a digital vehicle data ecosystem for refined fleet management.

2023 - Euro 6 - the 2023 models arrived with more performance, economy and a reduction in the emission of polluting gases, in line with the new Euro 6 regulations. With these innovations, fuel consumption is up to 8 per cent lower. The new D13K engine has more robust components; a Common Rail system with high-pressure, high-precision fuel injectors, as well as the exclusive Wave combustion technology, which guarantees faster, more efficient diesel burning and greater energy efficiency. The 7th generation I-Shift gearbox has been improved, resulting in up to 30% faster gear changes.

2025 - Improved artificial intelligence - improvements to the I-See, a technology capable of predicting the road ahead, has incorporated information on curves and roundabouts, as well as ups and downs, automatically anticipating gears to optimise performance and safety during the journey. New rear-view cameras reduce aerodynamic drag and contribute to a significant reduction in consumption, as well as increasing the field of vision. Another innovation is Tyre Pressure and Temperature Monitoring, with real-time indications for the driver and fleet managers.
