Locomotive E444 Turtle

The E.444s are railway locomotives designed in the 1960s to equip the State Railways with very powerful and fast vehicles, suitable for hauling the most important trains, especially rapid trains and international service, including TEE (Trans Europ Express) and all types of convoys that could arrive in the straightest sections at speeds of 180 km/h with peaks of 200 km/h, when all the other locomotives existing at the time did not exceed 140 km/h.
Even the E.444s followed the fashion of their period, in which the trains were given a nickname usually accompanied by the affixing of a logo on the side of the front: these vehicles were nicknamed Tartarughe, a nickname that thanks also to an ironic logo applied on the broadsides won the affection of enthusiasts and those who served on board.
